About V Awards

V Awards is a project initiated by the IYV+10 National Steering Committee in collaboration with News 1st as this year marks the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers [IYV+10]. The concept behind this project is to honour individuals who make extraordinary and selfless contributions to society. It is a noted fact, that Sri Lanka lacks a solid platform which recognizes the enormous contributions made by volunteers to the economy and society at large. V Awards aims to fill this void. This initiative is designed to recognize and reward the most outstanding volunteer contributions at a national level.

Objective

It is our aim to encourage the nation at large to appreciate these silent heroes and offer them gratitude for their acts of compassion. It is also our desire to inspire people of all ages and social backgrounds to take volunteerism to heart and motivate people to actively participate in this revering task.
